Aloo Paratha

I literally drool over aloo parathas. They are my all-time favourite snack item. But as no good food is without its drawback and side effect, aloo paratha too is quite high in calorie albeit mouth-watering.  Nevertheless, once in a while definitely we may allow ourselves the indulgence to fulfill our cravings, keeping every health related thought at bay.

Ingredient:                                            Cooking time: 40 minutes approx.
ü  200 gm whole wheat flour
ü  2 tbsp yogurt
ü  1 small sized onion (finely chopped)
ü  3-4 green chillies (finely chopped)
ü  2 medium sized potatoes (boiled and mashed)
ü  1 tsp dry mango powder
ü  1 tsp paprika or red chilli powder
ü  1 tsp cumin powder
ü  Salt to taste
ü  Few coriander leaves (optional)
ü  1 tsp garam masala powder
ü  Ghee
ü  White oil for cooking
Method:
1) Knead whole wheat flour and yogurt to a smooth dough. Keep it aside for 30 minutes, covered.
2) Meanwhile, add all the spices, onion, green chillies and coriander leaves into the mashed potatoes and mix well.
3) Make 4 small balls out of the wheat flour dough and roll them out into a round mini pancake and put the mashed potato mixture in the middle. (For easy preparation, make small balls out of the potato mixture, ¾ size of the wheat flour balls.)
4) Fold the mixture into the pancake and roll them out again to a bigger paratha. (Dust the parathas with wheat flour frequently while rolling out, to prevent it from fraying.)
5) Shallow fry the parathas in oil and ghee.
6) Serve hot with a pickle of your choice and yogurt.
